Australian Submarine Corporation is to roll out TETRA.

Australian Submarine Corporation (ASC) site in Adelaide South Australia will install a digital TETRA system from Damm Cellular Systems using TetraFlex^® infrastructure and Sepura terminal units.

ASC are to make good use of the features and flexibility provided by TETRA technology. As TETRA is a Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) technology and inherently a trunked technology, ASC are able to maximise hardware and spectrum efficiency and provide easy expansion flexibility when adding more terminals, talkgroups and site locations. With TETRA you can maintain standard PTT group call dispatch services whilst introducing new security enhancement features such as private radio to radio calls, full duplex private telephony calls, End to End encryption, Emergency override, GPS location, Lone worker/Man down, Alarm text messaging and Control capabilities. These features are all packaged into single light weight but ruggedized handsets. All these requirements can only be accomplished with TETRA.
