Grenaa Power Plant decided to implement a TETRA based radio system as it would fulfil all their requirements. The TETRA network coverage was established by DAMM TetraFlex base stations and Sepura handheld TETRA radios were selected due to their build-in Lone-Worker functionality.

Zonith’s TETRA Alarm Control System was installed with an integration allowing all ABB control system alarms to be monitored. The TETRA Alarm Control System dispatches automatically all technical alarms as SDS messages via the TETRA network to employee’s radios.

The Lone-Worker function in a Sepura radio functions more or less as a "dead man button". If the employees fail to acknowledge for the Lone-Worker notification an alarm will be raised and send to the TETRA Alarm Control System. The TETRA Alarm Control System immediately notifies an outside rescue team to take action. Simultaneously, the "Gate Opening Module" in the TETRA Alarm Control System will keep the power plant’s gates open for the rescue team.
