November 2008Integrated Analogue to TETRA Gateway for DAMM TetraFlex® GMG Solutions announces the new development of an Analogue to TETRA gateway with direct IP connection to DAMM's TetraFlex® systems.
The direct connection provides a flexible and robust bridge between legacy analogue radio systems and TETRA's future proof digital technology. As the gateway has a direct IP connection to TetraFlex®, there is a minimal time delay in activating calls, analogue and TETRA users will be unaware that they are communicating on two different technologies. Management can simply select which TETRA talkgroup to attach and communicate with the analogue system via an easy to use software GUI. The analogue interface is capable of connecting to most types and models of analogue radios and repeaters via simple 4-wire Tx and Rx audio, PTT and COR.
Organisations that call for a migration path from an existing analogue system can now do so. Contractors with analogue radios can still communicate with TETRA users without the need to replace their radios. Companies can utilise the full benefits of TETRA and if or when required have a bridge to the analogue world.
Geoff Wood from GMG Solutions says this development was necessary due to requests from within numerous industries that already have a substantial investment in analogue. Geoff also states that because TetraFlex® has a freely available Application Programming Interface (API), implementing this feature was not only possible but also relatively simple.
