The Tasmanian Electro Metallurgical Company (TEMCO) to roll out TETRA solution

TEMCO is a BHP Billiton company located 50 kilometres north of Launceston - Tasmania's second largest city and seven kilometres south of George Town at Bell Bay in the Tamar Valley.

As current radio systems reach their end of life, TEMCO will migrate and replace their current analogue systems with a digital TETRA system from Damm Cellular Systems using TetraFlex^® infrastructure and Sepura radio terminal units.

TEMCO will take advantage of the new features offered by TETRA technology whilst being able to maintain communications to external agencies. TETRA will allow radio users to maintain existing group call dispatch functionality whilst introducing new features such as excellent noise cancelling, data services, private radio to radio calls and full duplex private telephony calls. These features and functionality are packaged into the small outdoor rated modules of TetraFlex^® and matched with the light weight but ruggedized Sepura handsets.
